March 22, 1991 was a big day for the 90s kids, a little less for Hollywood. The second episode of the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trilogy was released in theaters. After 30 years, our generation’s passion for the four pizza-obsessed turtles with names of famous Italian painters, is still strong and it still remains a worldwide mass phenomenon. In this new episode, our turtle friends find themselves fighting (again) against Shredder, their historical enemy (inexplicably resurrected after his bad end in the first film) who wants to take possession of the ooze, a slimy and mysterious substance that has something to do with the origin of the Turtles. As if the clumsy fight scenes weren’t enough, what won’t be forgotten of this film is the cameo of a Vanilla Ice riding the crest of the wave with his trashy “Ninja rap”. Despite the criticisms, for fans like us it remains a cult Blockbuster to be enjoyed in our nostalgic evenings. In Pop culture, the ninja turtles remain an icon that is still proposed by designers around the world with their fan artwork. We therefore offer you a selection of the best graphics inspired (but not limited to) by the daring cinematic adaptation of the 90s. Cowabunga!
