Here you’ll find everything you need to know about the Webfont License, including FAQs, usage guidelines, and the full license agreement.
The Webfont License is for using the font as live text on one single website or project you own or control. It covers unlimited pageviews and allows multiple collaborators to work on the same site. This license includes the webfont formats needed for browser use (WOFF, WOFF2, EOT, and SVG) and allows embedding via standard web methods, including @font-face. It’s ideal for websites where typography is part of the user experience—covering headings, body text, navigation, and interface copy.
If the font is only used in static images, a Commercial / Desktop License is sufficient. For apps, SaaS products, or multi-site platforms, a different license is required.
Is there a pageview limit?
No. The Webfont License includes unlimited pageviews for the licensed website.
How many people can work on the website?
There’s no limit. Designers, developers, agencies, and contractors can all work on the same site, as long as the font is used only for the licensed website.
Can I use the font on multiple domains or websites?
Can I use the font on staging or development environments?
Yes. Staging, development, and internal testing environments are allowed, as long as they relate to the same licensed website.
Can I use the font in static images on my website?
Yes, but only if you also have a Commercial / Desktop License.
Using the font in static images—such as logos, banners, or graphics—is covered by the Commercial / Desktop License. The Webfont License alone applies only to live, selectable text on a website.
Can I use the font for print materials or branding?
No. The Webfont License does not cover print, branding assets, packaging, or static design work outside a website context. For those uses, you’ll need a Commercial / Desktop License.
Can I use the font in an app, SaaS, or software platform?
No. The Webfont License does not cover apps, games, SaaS products, web apps, dashboards, or software platforms where the font is part of an interactive product. These use cases require an App / Game License or a Custom License, depending on the project.
Can I share the webfont files with my team or developer?
Yes, as long as they’re working on the licensed website. The webfont files must not be shared publicly or made available for download or reuse.
Does the font support specific languages (e.g. Spanish, Portuguese)?
It depends on the font. Each font supports a specific set of languages and characters.
Supported languages are always listed on the individual product page for each font.
Is there a license for agencies or large teams building unlimited websites?
Yes. For agencies or organizations that need to use the font across multiple websites, brands, or clients, a Global Agency License is available. This license is designed for large teams and high-volume usage.
Can I use the Webfont License for social media and advertising?
No. Social posts, ad creatives, and marketing graphics are covered by the Commercial / Desktop License. The Webfont License only applies to using the font as live text on a website. If the font appears on a landing page as live text, the Webfont License applies to that website use.
